Grow Into What God Has Given

Scripture Focus

2 Peter 1:3

As His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue.

Everything you need is already yours.

Living from God’s Provision

Many of us know what it feels like to be overwhelmed by life. Responsibilities, uncertainty, temptation, strained relationships, grief, and hard decisions can make us feel as though we do not have enough strength for what is in front of us.

Second Peter directs our attention away from our limitations and toward God’s provision. His divine power has given believers all things that pertain to life and godliness through the knowledge of Jesus Christ. This does not mean that life will always be easy. It means that believers are not spiritually empty or left without help.

God has given His people His Word, His promises, His Holy Spirit, His church, and the perfect example of Jesus Christ. His grace does not run out when circumstances become difficult. We may feel weak, but God remains faithful.

Grace That Calls Us to Grow

God’s provision is not an excuse for passivity. Peter calls us to give diligence to our spiritual growth by adding virtue, knowledge, self-control, perseverance, godliness, brotherly kindness, and love to our faith.

We do not grow to earn God’s love. We grow because His love has already been given to us in Christ. Spiritual growth happens as we remain in God’s Word, pray honestly, worship faithfully, serve others, receive correction, and keep following Jesus in hard places.

Hard seasons do not cancel our calling. They can become places where perseverance, self-control, kindness, and love are made visible. We keep pressing forward not because we are strong enough in ourselves, but because Christ is faithful and His power is at work in us.
