Greater Men Are Greater Because They Are Servants
🎥 This Week’s Sermon Moment
Greater Courage, Obedience, and Love
Timestamp: 01:21:42 – 01:22:59
We got to have a greater love to ultimately become a greater servant.
Joe Grant closes by calling believers to develop greater courage, obedience, faith, fortitude, and love so they can become greater servants and live to hear the Lord say, “Well done.”
Scripture Focus
Colossians 3:23-24 calls believers to work with all their hearts as those serving the Lord Christ rather than people.
True Greatness Is Service
This Men’s Day message teaches that greatness in God’s kingdom is not measured by position, recognition, or personal achievement. True greatness is expressed through faithful service, sacrificial love, and obedience to Christ.
The call to be a greater servant belongs to every believer. Men, women, and young people are invited to serve one another and to care for those who do not yet know Christ.
Serve Wholeheartedly for the Lord
Colossians reminds us that our work has a higher purpose. Whether our service is public or unseen, Christ is the One we serve. This gives dignity and meaning to every act of kindness, encouragement, generosity, and ministry.
“The greatest among you is the one who serves.”
Jesus modeled this truth by serving His disciples. He came not to be served, but to serve, and His sacrificial love remains the pattern for His people.
Overcoming Barriers to Service
The message names several obstacles that can keep believers from responding to God: comfort, procrastination, distractions, fear, and self-doubt. Biblical figures such as Moses, Jeremiah, Jonah, and Ananias each faced reasons to hesitate. Yet God’s call required a response of faith.
Greater service calls for greater courage, greater obedience, greater faith, and greater love. The Holy Spirit empowers believers to move beyond excuses and toward the people and needs God places before them.
Keep Going
John’s presence at the cross offers a picture of dependable service. In a difficult moment, he remained near Jesus and received the responsibility of caring for Mary. Faithful servants stay available to God even when service is costly or uncomfortable.
“Men and brethren, you got to keep going.”
Apply the Message
- Ask God to reveal one area where fear or distraction has kept you from serving.
- Offer your time, treasure, or talent to meet a practical need this week.
- Invite someone to know Christ, trusting the Holy Spirit to do the saving work.
- Serve with the hope of hearing the Lord say, “Well done, thou good and faithful servant.”
Closing Prayer
Lord, give us greater love, courage, and obedience. Help us serve wholeheartedly as unto You, care for one another, and point others to Christ. Amen.
