Keep the Truth Burning
Scripture Focus
2 Peter 1:21
“No, those prophets were moved by the Holy Spirit, and they spoke from God.”
Keep the Truth Burning
It is possible to know the truth and still need to be reminded of it. Peter wrote to believers who were already standing firm, yet he continued to bring them back to the gospel and the trustworthy Word of God.
We can forget what we know when life becomes heavy. Stress, fear, disappointment, and pressure can make us lose sight of God’s goodness, forgiveness, and presence. This is why we need to return intentionally to Scripture, prayer, worship, and fellowship.
God’s Word is more than information to collect. It is truth meant to shape our minds, steady our hearts, and guide our steps. Peter describes the prophetic message as a lamp shining in a dark place. When the world feels confusing, we need the light of God’s Word.
Peter’s confidence was rooted in the reality of Christ. He had seen Jesus’ majesty and heard the Father’s voice. Our testimonies also matter. When Christ gives peace in grief, forgiveness after failure, or strength during a difficult season, His work becomes a reminder that He is faithful.
Yet our experiences are never above Scripture. The prophets spoke from God as they were moved by the Holy Spirit. God’s Word is reliable. When we share what God has said, we are not offering a passing opinion. We are pointing people to truth that gives life.
Reflection Questions
- What truth about God do you most need to remember in this season?
- Where have pressure, fear, or distraction tempted you to forget God’s faithfulness?
- How can your personal testimony point someone this week to the truth of Jesus Christ?
Application
Set aside time each day to read Scripture and write down one truth about God that you need to carry into your day. When worry or discouragement comes, return to that truth and pray it back to God.
Closing Prayer
Lord, keep me close to Your Word and guard me from forgetting Your goodness. Strengthen my faith through the truth of Jesus Christ, and help me speak with humility, courage, and love. Amen.
Weekly Challenge
For the next seven days, read one passage of Scripture each morning and share one sentence of biblical encouragement with a family member, friend, or coworker.
