Surrender Is a Morning Ritual

What this means for us is surrender is not a moment. It’s a morning ritual. So just like that priest had to add wood to the fire every single morning, you and I have to renew our surrender every single morning. So before your feet hit the floor, before you pick up that phone, say, “Lord, I surrender all again today.”
Dr. Jones explains that surrender is not a one-time emotional response but a daily practice. Using the priests who added wood to the altar fire each morning, he calls believers to renew their surrender before beginning the day.
I Surrender All
God’s command in Leviticus 6:12-13 was clear: the fire on the altar was to remain burning and never go out. The priests tended the altar every morning, clearing the ashes and adding fresh wood. This continual fire points believers to the daily work of surrender.
Keep the Flame Lit
Revival fire is not a one-time experience. It must be tended through prayer, time in God’s Word, obedience, repentance, and fellowship with God. Yesterday’s surrender is not enough for today’s spiritual battle. We cannot live on the fumes of past spiritual experiences.
“Fire has to be tended. Fire has to be fed.”
The call is to keep the flame lit after worship ends and throughout every ordinary day. God provides the fire, but believers are called to remain responsive to Him through daily devotion and surrender.
Be the Sacrifice
In Romans 12:1-2, Paul teaches that believers are to present their bodies as living sacrifices, holy and acceptable to God. Jesus Christ became the ultimate sacrifice once and for all, and our response to His mercy and grace is to yield our whole lives to Him.
A living sacrifice can be tempted to get up from the altar. We may surrender our temper, habits, relationships, unforgiveness, plans, or private struggles, only to take them back later. But partial surrender is not complete obedience. God calls His people to give Him full access.

A Morning Ritual of Surrender
Surrender is not only a moment; it is a morning ritual. Before beginning the day, place yourself again before God and pray, “Lord, I surrender all again today.” This daily posture creates room for the renewing of the mind and the transforming work of God.
Do not let the ashes of yesterday suffocate the fire of today. Let God plow the hardened places of your heart, rebuild the altar of devotion, and receive your life as a living sacrifice. Revival fire is looking for a place to land, and it burns where everything is freely given to God.
Weekly Challenge
Before your feet hit the floor each morning this week, pray: “Lord, I surrender all again today.” Ask God to reveal one area of your life that needs to remain on the altar.
