Rebuilding Our Way Back

True revival requires more than inward intentions. It calls us to restore the places of worship, prayer, surrender, and devotion that neglect has broken down.

Elijah began by inviting the people to come near. Revival does not begin at a safe distance from God. We are called to move from observing worship to participating in worship and to carry a continual posture of praise into every part of life.

Repair the Altar

The altar represented a place where people met with God. When the altar was neglected, worship was neglected. We must honestly examine the broken places in our own lives and intentionally renew our commitment to daily, sacrificial worship.

Stand Together in Covenant Unity

Elijah used twelve stones even though Israel was divided. The stones declared that God’s people remained one covenant family. As living stones in Christ, believers are called to place unity above cliques, preferences, and worldly divisions.

Trust God’s Power

Elijah soaked the sacrifice with water so that God alone would receive the glory when fire fell. The church cannot manufacture spiritual fire through human effort alone. Our faith must rest in the power of God.

Pray for God’s Glory

Elijah’s prayer was brief, focused, and centered on God’s name being magnified and hearts being turned back to Him. God answered, and the people confessed together, “The Lord, He is God.”

“God does not send his fire on altars that do not exist.”

Respond in Faith

Jesus Christ has made reconciliation with God possible through His finished work at Calvary. Draw near to Him, rebuild your private and corporate devotion, and place your life fully on the altar of the living God.

Weekly Challenge

Choose one daily time this week to pray, read Scripture, and worship God. Ask Him to reveal one neglected area of devotion that He wants to restore.
