We Have a Cause to Be Content

🎥 This Week’s Sermon Moment

Contentment Is Found in Who You Trust

Timestamp: 00:46:08 – 00:47:09

Being content is not a matter of what you have, but in who you trust.

Dr. Jones contrasts the world’s shifting feelings of contentment with Paul’s joyful testimony from prison, declaring that contentment depends on trusting God rather than possessing more.

Scripture Focus

Philippians 4:10-13, 18-20

Paul teaches that he learned to be content in every circumstance, whether he had plenty or little. His confidence rested in Christ, who gave him strength, and in God, who supplies every need from His glorious riches.

We Have a Cause to Be Content

Contentment is not determined by possessions, income, status, or the ease of our circumstances. Paul wrote from prison with joy because his trust was not in what he had. His trust was in the God who was with him.

Contentment is a learned virtue. God teaches His people through seasons of abundance, need, waiting, and difficulty. The dry season is not the end of the story. God is still working, maturing, and strengthening His children.

Philippians 4:13 is not merely a statement about achieving personal goals. In context, it is a declaration that Christ gives strength to endure every circumstance with faith. When resources are limited, Christ gives strength to be content. When blessings increase, Christ gives strength to remain humble.

Being content is not a matter of what you have, but in who you trust.

God’s provision is not limited by our circumstances. The same God who cared for Paul will supply the needs of His people. Therefore, we can seek God first, trust Him fully, and live as heavenly citizens whose hope is secure in Christ.
